going to have dinner.. decided to just give a short blog before i run out of time and energy again.. well i worked OT again today.. its been real busy everyday and time passes damn fast.. i've been learning alot of stuff and we've made a few mistakes.. but learning alot along the way.. sometimes its just the mundane stuff.. but yet there is really so much to learn there.. and i've been very happy working there.. well the most realistic thing my supervisor asked after briefing us about our whole project.. (its very tedious and we need to be very careful)... he asked.. so do YOU still wanna do research?? well.. it daunted on me at that moment.. i'll take these 4 more months to ponder...

i'm really getting used to work.. and its great.. my project has started.. though it seems tedious and there is no room for error.. but i'll do my best.. i've been studing and reading up.. so no time to blog... yup...

day 1 sip

SIP was like sian la... maybe it was because my principal investigator (PI) and supervisor was too busy for us.. we were like freakingly abandoned and my collegues came to our rescue to get us to do some stuff..

Day 1 at IMCB... janice's recollection...

7.45: reached buona vista mrt

8.10: finally all my classmates came.. WALKED to biopolis... and waited at the lobby.. met some nyp students there too.. made some friends... :)

9.00: admin staff picked us up for briefing (supposed to be 8.45)

10.00: briefing finished.. and i'm in the same lab as hock and and lisa.. waiting for supervisors to come pick us.. but nobody came.. ya.. damn sad la.. like so unwanted.. (cheap and unwanted labour.. sobs...) so the nice admin staff brought us up.. so there we went.. just popped ourselves into the lab...

10.30: some lab manager named kenny brought us on a tour and we saw the zebra fish quarintine rooms and the breeding rooms and stuff.. (ben would have gone crazy la) there were seriously tons and tons of FISH.. went to the cold room.. dark room.. conference rooms.. (every tues meeting.. sians.. tmr la.. i wanna cry.. we've gotta present what we've been doing...) etc.. tons of places.. then he threw us at the meeting room.. and we stoned there till 12.. i slept for 1 hour...

12.00: cannot take it anymore.. so we went to find them.. so they brought us for lunch at holland village... ate chicken rice with hock, lisa and my 2 new nyp friends.. and guess what.. i meet miss aveline neo.. whee.. she is working at helios building... yay

13.00: report back to proteos building... they threw us back at the meeting room cause our boss (PI) was too busy with interviews.. took 2 hours per person..

13.10: they called us back to the lab.. asked us for help...

13.15: went to the zebra fish breeding room.. helped washed the spawnning tanks.. put the male and female fish together for breeding and killed the unwanted fish.. had a fun time.. whee..

15.00: went for safety briefing.. super super sian.. and they made us watch a video that we already saw during ddct...

17.30: safety briefing finished.. went back up to see if our boss was finally free.. and heng he was free for us.. he told us who were our supervisors and stuff.. but hock and my supervisor was playing hide and seek with us la... when we went to admin to take our temp card.. he was in the lab.. when we went up.. he was gone..

18.00: finally mr chong shang wei our supervisor turns up.. and tells us " i will brief u both tmr" dots.. but yup.. that was my day

18.10: janice left proteos building..

i'm so tired now.. and i still need to write reflections and read literature papers and scientific journals for tmr...

janice... off to bathe and READ!!! i hope everyone has had a meaningful day.. another 139 days to go...

i'm feeling much better today.. thanks my dear azzah.. life always seemed better when my great friends are around to protect me from the sadness.. its a weird to put this..

birthday

well.. i celebrated my birthday with my friends on fri.. but it didnt turn out as well as it was meant to be.. i just want to thank my friends.. yee fung for helping with the cokking when he cant eat anything.. aaron, fatimah, sharon etc for tending the food... and ryan, meli, janelle and grace for being there when i needed consolation from one disaster after another.. and being the cleaning team.. thanks.. well.. thanks to dear's friends for buying the cake and leaving a 'wonderful' impression on my parents, friends and myself. Its over.. and i just want a break after all that has happened.. it was quite happy afterall.. (janice trying to cheer myself up in no avail.. haiz)... i guess it was a bad decision to have dear's friends to come too.. hai.. i'm glad they didnt ruin it to the max.

but still... thanks to everyone for all the presents... the cookies and chocolates.. the gameboy micro... the cards.. cakes... the book and the princess hours vcd... etc

i'm addicted to princess hours.. hee..nice show.. i guess in every girl's heart.. everyone wants to be a princess.. *bubble burst* time to stop dreaming..

i'm so sorry to norman and wilson.. i totally forgot their tuition this morning..

Birthday wishes

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!! thanks to ALL the people to smsed me in the dead of the night.. hee i was sleeping.. i seroiusly can't be bothered my birthday.. its just like another day for me.. mummy and daddy are ringing me out for dinner later.. My no 1 birthday wish is that i can be happy doing things i like and .....................................STOP................... (not telling.. it won come true if i say... hee...)

well i'm in school now.. 'studying' with my classmates.. but everyone is freaking playing games.. yup.. so after blogging i've gotta get back to studies...

well.. i ate a damn full lunch with them and yee fung was freaking irritating.. he was telling EVERYONE in school that i'm the birthday girl... SIAN... super paisei... ARRGH

the barnyard thing was fun.. but dear was a bit pissed that the crew was smoking (no smoking in the zoo please.. second hand smoke is bad for the humans and animals... and people were walking in front of the screen (bring the kids to toilet) but overall the weather was fine and the couple sitting in front brought freaking tons of food.. we ate before we went.. the had sparkling juice.. haha.. darn cute la... :) had a nice evening.. but the zoo was DARK..

i went to see my cat yesterday.. he has a pink collar with a pink bell.. that naughty boy... i missed his meowing.. and he slept on my leg.. i miss him...

i guess thats enough blogging for today.... smiles .. gotta get back to BPT..

damn tired.. dunno why.. but this year i don't feel like its exam period.. however the weird thing is i'm studying damn hard this time.. maybe its the fact that it will be last exams in poly.. whoots..

Today was rtech.. it went quite well.. did quite fast though.. i just wanted to get out the room.. there were probs with the seating initially.. but they managed to sort it out during the paper and some of my coursemates were pissed.. i guess if i was asked to keep changing seats during the paper i'll get pissed too.. oh well...

3 down.. 1 more to go on weds.. and i'm done.. bioprocess tech on weds is full of calculations la.. hai.. gotta practice the calculations.. convert this.. change to this form.. hai.. hate that.. but i'm going to the ZOO tmr.. hee.. thanks to cindy... she gave me tickets to the barnyard screening at the zoo.. so dear and i will go walk in the afternoon and see the movie in the evening..

well.. i guess yesterday's tissue engineering paper went quite well.. i studied hard.. so everything came quite well.. i only didnt know how to do 1 two mark question.. so ya. hope i write well for the rest...

Yesterday was another mind bogging day.. our next five months of life was announced.. well.. i'm posted to INSTITUTE OF MOLECULAR AND CELL BIOLOGY.. yay.. its really where i wanted to go... and its really a very good opportunity to work and learn more stuff there..

But Mdm Huang Yan(my liasion officer) said that life there doing research is freaking stressed and we will be bullied in the first few weeks.. so making friends are damn important.. she also said some stuff that made us cringe.. she told us some of the people working there like proffessors.. associate proff.. post degree.. masters... and lab techs.. when we thought that we would we around the same level as lab techs.. she said.. most of the lab techs there are honours students.. we ALL fainted.. stress on top of stress... well.. i guess we have to work hard for the next 5 months and.. i will have to do my bestest best.. I've attached a map of my workplace for the next 5 months.. wish me luck!!!
