sometimes when we get too intrigued by capturing the moment, we forget how beautiful the big picture is.

penguin island was just beautiful, the one big thing i'll miss about here is how everything looks postcard perfect. i'm a nature junkie but i hate getting dirty. kirke says i'm terribly ironic.

it was like a 45 min drive to take the ferry, and we stopped by some lake that was dried up during summer and it will be a lake during winter again.
the guys we happily tumbling into bushes. and we had fun at the beach cam whoring before the ferry departed for like a 5min ride. shalini says that if we left early enough (like at 7am) we can walk across during low tide. but seriously what if we walk across half way and the tide rises? i'll be the first one to drown! hopefully the penguins will come and save me.

Then we went to the penguin experience discovery center where they house 10 penguins. SO CUTE! little penguins. (this is really their name, i'm not being a bimbo)
and guess what? they all have their own names and they line up for food and wait for their turn. They all have attitudes, some are shy or grumpy, some are greedy, some love to swim. etc etc.

then we went for our picnic lunch while kirke went for a swim.
and that was us climbing trees, me being damn loser because my feet were too short. KNN!

then the treking began, and i was seriously the slowest (loser) because my tiny feet kept getting submerged into the very fine sand.
and the beach was super awesome. we didn't get to see the pelicans nest because some idiot scared them away and according to kirke, when u get too close, the chicks get scared and the jump down the cliff. so they have changed thier nesting site to another part of the island.
then we saw the natural rock formations that were erroding with the wind and water, which cause fossilised roots of trees that used to stand above us.

and then there are the caves which have a really really weird history.

The first person to have lived on the Island was an eccentric New Zealander by the name of Seaforth McKenzie. Several of the limestone caves on the eastern side of the island were hollowed out and crudely furnished for use as accommodation, a library and a small store where visitors could manage their own account. McKenzie also excavated a 'grand ballroom' known as the palace where he was crowned the 'King of Penguin Island' at a grand ceremony.

McKenzie left the island in 1926 and returned home to his wife Sarah and six children in New Zealand after an absence of 45 years! Apparently he left home to go to work one day and failed to return- his explanation being that he had only just regained his memory of his family!

6 days of the week break has passed. and i've only finished my part for 1 presentation, 1 individual assignment and another half of an essay. and my head hurts. my neck aches. my eyes are sore. my lap top is actually seldom off at all, because to save the start up time i rather let it hibernate.

how how how?

well, i still have 2 more project meetings this week, including OMG way too much readings. one essay due in 3 weeks. one essay due in 4 weeks. and 2 midsems in 4 weeks time. (thats just for the next month, after that its another hell month) i cannot believe that i've already been here for like 6 weeks. and i was just thinking that my uni life is really really going to be over.

all this is moving too fast.

and on top of that, i'm interviewing to be the school ambassador. cool shits hey!

and hock and i were video calling for the first time in like 2 years. it was really awkward. i rather listen to his voice and see him once in a while.

for me! awww. and she really tried, and it was really quite good! though she was all hands and feet. it was really heartwarming to have a dinner prepared for me. hahah. i love you!

alex and emma just came back from manjimup today, and they brought rain water back for me. NO KIDDING. rain water, all pure and filtered. for drinking. And yes it tastes better than Australian tap water. but i think its making my digestive system a bit screwed at the moment.
but yes. i'm now one step closer to experiencing the Australian life. "where the bloody hell are you?" its quite cool to actually drink rain water which we will never experience in Singapore because we only have dirty rain! haha.

and and and... before alex and emma left it was their one monthasary. so this was our present to them.
we are such a cheeky bunch.

its finally the start of my one week break, BUT ITS FULL OF WORK TO DO!! feeling quite content at the moment.

its alex's and emma's 1 month anniversary today, and he was so sweet! he pitched a tent inside his room! like a real tent, with 2 flutes of champagne (i think its something else inside). so we decided to surprise them. filled his door with "post-it" full of explicit material.

i was talking to hock today, and i realised something. we still laugh at each other over the phone like we've just known each other. though we miss each other so much, i really feel very content with everything i have. because i have him. he always puts me before himself, i asked him will he ever get sick of me, he replied that he would never see that day. and we were talking about how our wedding should be etc,

and he said: "so you'll marry me?"

WHAT KIND OF PROPOSAL IS THAT?
(by the way, its not the first time he has asked that.) i think by the time we really get down to it, I'll know before hand. but he said: "when i REALLY propose you better agree OKAY! or else I'll be so embarrassed. HAHA

today we had a fire drill. OMG it was the most lame shit drill ever- everyone would have burnt to death in real time. and my flat was the first to evacuate. alex even did a head count. and when we returned, the RAs locked colin's and kirke's doors. they were so annoyed. haha, but it was fun having everyone out in the lounge.

not to mention that our new courtyard RA is W-E-I-R-D. not that I'm against people of his colour, but dude, he keeps hitting on all of us, stands on the first floor and peers into our rooms through our windows at night.

janice. i missed class today, because i believed in my memory of my time table too much.

today was a day well spent, but i didn't catch up on my readings. I'm only done for Monday and Tuesday's class. so behind time, but next week is the week break and I'll get some time to finally finish up my readings.

today hanisha, kirke and i went to the freo markets. and walked around freo like bloody tourist. took pictures (hanisha's orders) and carried tons of food home. we were so tired by the end of the whole day. and janice was getting grumpy.
us in the car and then in freo. i love black and white pictures sometimes. and we went into St John's church just to look at the building. and we were stuck there for a good half hour because the Indian Priest wanted to chat. it was a really beautiful church with stained glass and old wood. i think it was 100 years old.
i love to look at things that were made like centuries ago, they really fascinate me.

and finally we escaped. but it was quite fun, we are going to a hindu temple soon, and penguin island. oh look how chummy we've all become.
kirke being very happy that we are out of a religious place. we both agree that religion is quite bull sometimes.

then we went to buy groceries! the car was quite far and it was effing heavy and i know i look retarded with my back pack.

went for cirque du soileil yesterday, as what everyone says- it was AWESOME, though it was mostly Chinese acrobats and i think i've seen too much of it in my life. like kung fu to a white is super cool, but to me, its just blah sometimes due to overload of it.

But min and I really had fun dolling up, hanisha chipped in with her OMG eye shadow palette and she made my eyes so pretty!

anyway, it was really entertaining, and the woman beside me was definitely into the show, way too much that she was half screaming into my left ear. so i'm like half deaf in one ear. we went with Michelle's landlady's 5 year old daughter- tian en. OMG she is so shy but really adorable with she starts talking and horsing around.

but kids are still kids la, they get tired so easily and need tons of coaxing. and min was dangling fairy floss in front of her so she would walk back to the car. really cute, she had alot of fun with the clowns especially.
and they were caught in the act.

Dinner at ciao italia was seriously a let down. food was just okay, seriously i've eaten better for that price.janice. i'm challenging myself.
